Moth Balls Are Back… But Not As You Know Them!

According to a recent newspaper article mothballs are making a comeback! This is what Tom Whitehead from the Daily Telegraph wrote:

“They were once a common feature in the wardrobes and drawers of the Victorian home. Now mothballs are making a comeback after the recent hot spell caused a population explosions, leading to clothes moth infestations.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the ministry responsible for pest control, was the latest victim when its Westminster headquarters had to be fumigated. Parks have also been hit by a growing number of moth caterpillars, whose web-like nests have left them looking like something from a horror film. Parts of Essex were also  hit by an invasion of the toxic brown-tail moth caterpillars, which can cause breathing problems, skin irruption and allergic outbreaks to people who come into contact with them. The lava of clothes moths are often found in dark corners of wardrobes and drawers and feed off natural fibres. The latest wave has led homeowners to revert to the old-fashioned ricks of past generations.”

There are different levels of Moth Infestation in the home, some more severe than others and it can be confusing working out whether you have them, where you have them and how bad the problem is.
